Mount Sinai Fire Department

Mount Sinai Fire Department in Suffolk County Long Island was formed in the fall of 1930 after a house burned to the ground because the nearest fire department from a neighboring town took twenty minutes to get there. The residents got together after a Civic Association meeting, October 25th, 1930, for the purpose of forming a fire department. They voted for it that evening and there it began.

Our fire department has a fleet of twelve vehicles a fire boat, an inflatable and a Technical Rescue trailer in two stations, Headquarters and Station 1. There are three pumpers, a heavy rescue, a marine rescue, a ladder truck, two brush trucks, two fire police trucks and a utility van. Station 1 has two pumpers, a ladder truck, a fire police vehicle and a brush truck, everything else is at the Headquarters building.

Join Us

Men and women in Suffolk County NY join a volunteer fire department for many reasons but mostly for the feeling of self pride in knowing that they are part of a team that stands ready to protect property and save lives. Volunteer firefighters train rigorously for many hours to become firefighting professionals. It is also an opportunity learn new things and to meet new people from all walks of life.

"On behalf of the Mount Sinai Volunteer Fire Department, the chief's office would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all of our community who consistently support our efforts. Through your generosity we remain trained and ready to serve our town twenty four hours per day, three hundred and sixty five days per year."

Very truly yours,

Jaime Baldassare
Chief of Department
