The Mount Sinai Fire Department is an all volunteer organization formed in 1930 for the protection of life and property from fire and other emergencies. This protection is provided to the Mount Sinai Fire District, an area of about five and one half square miles, with boundaries of Mount Sinai Harbor on the north, Canal Road on the south, and from Pipe Stave Hollow Road in the east to Crystal Brook Hollow Road in the west. The department also participates in mutual aid and rapid intervention agreements with our neighboring departments.
We are always seeking new members. Training provided is extensive and no prior experience is necessary.

Community Notes
- We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our friends, neighbors and local businesses who continuously support us in fund drive efforts.
- September 11th Memorial - Our department was touched quite personally by many members of our firefighting family by the events of 9/11.  Each year to commemorate the sacrifices made by our Brothers in the FDNY, the Mt Sinai Fire Department hosts a memorial service at our Headquarters.  All members of the community are welcome and encourage to join us in honoring the heroism of those lost as a result of that fateful day.
- Each year the Mount Sinai Fire Department opens its doors for a Fire Safety Open House event.  This event is held at the Headquarters building on Mt Sinai Coram Road at North Country road during the month of October.  All are invited to attend and participate in fire safety education, fun for the kids and a tour of our facilities and apparatus.
