Mount Sinai Fire Department

Mount Sinai Fire Department in Suffolk County Long Island was formed in the fall of 1930 after a house burned to the ground because the nearest fire department from a neighboring town took twenty minutes to get there. The residents got together after a Civic Association meeting, October 25th, 1930, for the purpose of forming a fire department. They voted for it that evening and there it began.

Equipment

Our fire department has a fleet of twelve vehicles a fire boat, an inflatable and a Technical Rescue trailer in two stations, Headquarters and Station 1. There are three pumpers, a heavy rescue, a marine rescue, a ladder truck, two brush trucks, two fire police trucks and a utility van. Station 1 has two pumpers, a ladder truck, a fire police vehicle and a brush truck, everything else is at the Headquarters building.
